Reporting to Brand Director Job Purpose Responsible for provision of departmental budget and range plans taking into account agreed brand strategy. Accountable for ‘trading’ the department in a way that optimizes opportunity and minimizes risk. Seek to meet stock turn targets by recommending timely markdown and promotional activity. Liase with marketing colleagues to optimize window, advertising and promotional plans. Provide management analysis and information. Deputise for the Merchandiser when required.

Responsibilities:

• Plan ‘bottom up’ bi-annual budget (in conjunction with Group Planning Manager) to include LFL sales, buying in margin, average price, stock turn, and markdown level for department taking into account 2 year history and design trend forecasting.
• Set range plan in conjunction with buying and design colleagues taking into account trend mix, estimated ROS by line, available linear footage, price architecture, and planned number of weeks selling time.
• Re-forecast against budget on a monthly basis reporting change upwards and within department
• Review weekly sales and intake targets
• Continually review ‘open to buy’ generated through over or under performance and notify buying and design team accordingly
• Monitor ongoing buying in margin and markdown levels against budget alerting team to any unplanned discrepancies
• Plan seasonal ‘running lines’ – re-forecasting weekly and notifying Buyer accordingly.
• Advise optimum size ratio by line taking into account comparable line sales curve and sell through by size. 
• Highlight ‘key lines’ (important from a fashion or price perspective) in conjunction with B&M team liaising with marketing to ensure support for these lines (e.g. photographic, VM, PR).
• Ensure full in-store stock position to support window and graphic plans communicating any changes to plan well in advance.
• Be responsible for ensuring that co-ordinated collections are delivered as a package into store liaising with the Group Planning and Logistics manager
• Issue delivery code to supply base advising when shipment or delivery is able to proceed.
• Take joint responsibility for store/concession grading(reviewing seasonally)
• Ensure that allocation quantities match store stock turn requirements managing allocation team where relevant.
• Ensure that website availability is updated on a daily basis, if applicable
• Review ‘lessons learnt’ seasonally and weekly through ‘best and worst’ meetings.
