• Essential you have excellent footwear development experience
• Working experience of suppliers in Far East Candidates must be a strong team player, good communicator, Enthusiastic and have a good sense of humour

This well established multi-channel retailer renowned for offering quality products in clothing, hardware and toys is looking for a Junior Product Development technologist for a 12 month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Senior Product Development Technologist and working closely with the buying, sourcing and design teams, you will be responsible for the development of a range hard goods.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the product development together with the sealing process from initial prototype to production sign-off.
• Ensure that a high standard of quality and consistency is achieved and that safety and current legislation requirements are met.

• Responsible for developing quality products in line with customer expectations.

Key Skills:

• You will have a technical understanding and an interest in product development and quality standards. The ideal candidate will already be working as a Junior Product Development Technologist or in a similar role with previous product experience.

• The role requires constant liaison with the Buying, Sourcing and Design teams as well as suppliers, therefore, excellent communication skills are a must.

• You will also be a pro-active team player, with the ability to use your own initiative, coupled with excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

You will have first hand responsibility for all aspects of new product development, always striving to develop projects which achieve agreed sales, margin and profit targets while always working to the business’s International’s values. This is a key role which contributes to overall category development therefore your will be accountable for developing your area’s strategy establishing category/range/product growth targets, growth drivers, priorities etc.

Responsibilities:

• Working with the commercial team to maintain a comprehensive overview of the category performance this role will monitor the performance of the category, identifying areas for expansion and development.
• You should have extensive experience in a similar Category Management position within a multi-site retailer or FMCG manufacturer (beauty/toiletries industry strongly preferred)
• Sound knowledge and experience in NPD and launch to markets as well as experience of collating and analysing information across various forms of data and a solid history of working in a commercial environment.
